ELIGIBILITY, AWARDS AND NOTIFICATIONS
Full and Partial Scholarships are available for this year’s Snorkel & Study winter break, Jan 1-8, 2009. Please read the following information about eligibility and awards carefully. Your online application must be submitted by Nov 29, 2008.

Scholarship EligibilityImage
You must be currently enrolled in a college or university to be eligible. Undergrads and graduate students may apply.
You must submit the online application, $50 application fee, and letter of recommendation in order to be considered for a scholarship. All submissions need to be received by Nov 29, 2008. Submissions received on or before November 29 will be considered for Full and Partial Scholarships. Submissions received after November 29 will be considered for Partial Scholarships.

Awards

Scholarship awards are competitive and are based on the careful consideration of your online application (which includes essay questions) and recommendation letter. There are a fixed number of Full and Partial Scholarships so the earlier in the process you complete your materials the better.

Notifications

Notifications of Full and Partial Scholarship awards will be made by email, starting November 8, 2008. You must send your confirmation within 7 days to secure your award.

See details below about the Application Process, Payment Requirements, Refunds, and Scholarship Agreement. Read more about Snorkel & Study here.

APPLICATION PROCESS

1. Apply online. Set aside ample time to fill out the Scholarship Application Form. This is a competitive process and the essay questions require your thoughtful responses. Make sure you have a referral name and the telephone number from your local campus Chabad or other Jewish community educator; it’s a required field for your application. Have your credit card ready to pay your $50 Application Fee. You’ll be directed there once you submit your form.

2. Pay your non-refundable $50 Application Fee. Make sure to indicate it’s for Snorkel & Study.

3. Send us your letter of recommendation. Your Chabad House director or other Jewish community educator should email their letter to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or mail to Snorkel & Study, 383 Kingston Avenue, Suite 248, Brooklyn, NY 11213-4333.

4. Confirm your scholarship. We will start sending out email notifications of scholarships on Nov 8, 2008. To secure the award, you must confirm your scholarship within 7 days, either by email or phone. Once you confirm, go ahead and book your ticket.

5. Email a recent photo of yourself. (It's our way of getting to know you just a little better before you arrive.)

6. Email your travel itinerary. Transportation to and from the airport is your responsibility but we may be able to match you up with other participants with similar flights once we know your travel plans.
