This question was asked during a live online class at an Un-Camp weekend for teen girls, Thanksgiving, 2008 in Morristown, NJ .
I am 19 and met a guy online. He's 24, really nice, college graduate, has a good job. But he's Christian. I really like him. We already met a few times. I haven't told a soul my parents will kill me. I have a good Jewish background and so it's been ingrained in me that this is wrong. But i really, really think he is my soul-mate. He is a good guy and we fit together PERFECTLY. Does it really matter that he's not Jewish? We've discussed marriage and he says that religion is not an issue for him. Would I not be able to make a good wife for him because of the religious issue? In daily life, day to day, does it really matter what religion you are? Isn't it more important that you are a good person regardless of your religion. I'm being torn apart by keeping this secret and not knowing what to do.
